My Long Lucious Locks

While on my mission, I met with the mission president in an interview. He would do one of these with all of his missionaries every three months. During one of these times, his wife would converse with the missionaries as we waited. Then, the subject of beards came up. Now, the culture of the church tends to lean toward men who are clean shaven and smooth faced. Many of our leaders are clean shaven, and to work in the temple there are grooming standards to uphold. Now this culture does not mean the church views facial hair as bad or sinful. It is just how the traditions fell into place.

Compiled Sermon on the Mount

Blessed are ye if ye shall give heed unto the words of these twelve whom I have chosen from among you to minister unto you, and to be your servants; and unto them I have given power so they may baptize you with water; and after ye are baptized with water, behold, I will baptize you with fire and with the Holy Ghost; therefore, blessed are ye if ye shall believe in me and be baptized, after ye have seen me and know that I am.
And again, more blessed are they who shall believe in your words because ye shall testify ye have seen me, and ye know that I am.
Yea, blessed are they who shall believe in your words, and come down into the depths of humility and be baptized, for they shall be visited with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and shall receive a remission of their sins.

Yea, blessed are the poor in spirit who come unto me, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
And again, blessed are all they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are ye who weep now: for ye shall laugh.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are all they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are all the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are all the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are all they who are persecuted for my name’s sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
And blessed are ye when men shall hate and revile you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for the Son of man's sake. Rejoice ye in that day, leap for joy, and be exceeding glad, for ye shall have great joy, for great shall be your reward in heaven; for so persecuted in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets who were before you.

Easter Sacrament Talk

Easter is right around the corner. You know what that means. Children are going to be refilled with candy. You see; there’s a system. Candy from Halloween can last until Christmas. They have enough treats from Christmas to last until Easter. This means consumers spending money on candy, dyes, candy, baskets, candy, plastic eggs, candy to put in those eggs, real eggs, candy eggs, and finally bunny and egg shaped candy. Man, it is good to be a child in the land of the free and home of the brave in the 21st century. Good ol’ America, where we have holidays just so large companies can make money, and kids can satisfy their desire to become obese, but how did these traditions to get large amounts of sheeple to give away their money begin? Well, at one point these holidays were exactly that: HOLY DAYS.

This Season's Reason

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not... He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not... the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1: 1-5, 10-11, 14)

A Letter for Wisdom

Now, for those of you who read "Dear Sophia,", and thought, "Aww, how sweet and romantic, he wrote to his girlfriend on his blog." I hate to burst your bubble, but I, currently don't have a girlfriend. That doesn't mean a future girlfriend won't appreciate this letter. I may use it to sweep her off her feet... maybe. However, I tend to be more of a slow and cautious individual when it comes to matters of the heart, which seems to push quite a few women away... Uh, Now why did I tell you that? It isn't important... This letter was inspired by multiple sources including Philosophy, the scriptures, and (yes,) my dating life.
